Hello,
My name is Arianne Shughart, founder and owner of Still Waters Therapeutics LLC. I believe this vision was placed on my heart long before I fully understood what it would become.
My journey began at age 8 when my dad was deployed for a year. That season brought a lot of anxiety, fear, and challenges with confidence and daily life. I remember struggling deeply with worry and feeling overwhelmed by even small things.
During that time I began taking riding lessons through a friends family and unknowingly, that became the beginning of my healing.
Through consistant time with horses, I began to notice real change. My confidence grew, my anxiety lessened, and I found a sense of peace and stability that carried into everyday life. While life was still hard at times, I was able to engage more fully and feel more grounded.
That experience stayed with me. In high school, I pursued internships in both special education and at a local horse farm. For my senior project, I created a field trip for students at the farm where I interned, and it remains one of the most meaningful experiences I've had. Once again, I saw the powerful impact horses can have on people.
After graduation, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Equine Facilitated Therapeutics, studying how the horses natural movement and biomechanics support regulation, communication, emotional well-being, physical development, and self-esteem. I then worked as a therapeutic riding instructor for several years before continuing my education and earning a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. That path has led me here with a deep passion for helping others experience growth, healing, and connection.
Along the way I've gained experience in equine-assisted services, trauma-informed care, and occupational therapy. I've consistently witnessed how horses help people build confidence, emotional awareness, resilience, and connection. Still Waters Therapeutics was created from that passion, a safe, welcoming place where individuals can grow and thrive through meaningful equine-assisted experiences.
When I'm not working, I'm with my family, and caring for the animals and enjoying life on the farm. Thank you for being here!
